Bridgehampton LINCT Community

Bridgehampton The Bridgehampton Child Care Center has donated space for us to hold day and evening classes. The day class is for low-income families and the evening class is for residents whose second language is English. Funding for these classes is provided by various sources and has been very successful.

Presently the Basic Computer Skills classes are being taught by a graduate of the LINCT program. The community has many low-income residents that are eager to become part of the technological world.

Our evening classes are for people whose second language is English and is very popular. The facilitator is Spanish speaking and although the class is taught in English, she can help the students learn by translating from Spanish to English. This makes them feel more comfortable and makes it easier for the students to learn. Many of these students work in the daytime at low-paying jobs and are anxious to improve themselves and their way of life. Those who perform house-cleaning services or landscaping services have used the skills learned in class to set up and maintain records for their own businesses. In addition, children of these families benefit from access to the Learn and Earn Computer being in their home on which they can do their homework and research to do better in school.
