East Moriches LINCT Community

East Moriches IGHL – Independent Group Home Living has contacted LINCT to provide basic computer classes for their disabled clients. IGHL has donated a storefront where the classes can be held and also provides a connection to the Internet. This group of special students will be taught basic computer skills and how to access the Internet.

In a world where these students have already met many challenges that have entered their lives, they now are eager to meet the challenge of technology. For many of them it will be their contact with the outside world and their lives will be enhanced by the new skills that they acquire.

Many windows of opportunity will now be open to them. Aside from becoming computer literate, their lives will be made easier due to the Internet. There are many online courses that they can participate in, thus furthering their education. Shopping, which can be difficult for those with disabilities, can be done on the Internet with purchases delivered to their door.

Some staff members of Independent Group Home Living have expressed interest in attending a class to enhance the skills needed in their workday.
